Jewell Set to Tweak His Side for Burnley's Visit Wed 21st Mar 2012 10:42
Boss Paul Jewell looks set to tweak his side as the Blues go into their fifth game in March with Burnley the opposition at Portman Road this evening (KO 7.45pm). The Town manager has said one or two players have gone slightly off the boil recently with matches coming thick and fast.

Aaron Cresswell’s first goal for Town eventually saw the Blues to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Peterborough United at Portman Road. Grant Leadbitter put the Blues ahead but Tyrone Barnett made it 1-1 at the break. Daryl Murphy nodded the home side back in front, then Posh sub Emile Sinclair equalised, prior to Cresswell’s winner, which deflected in off Gabriel Zakuani.

Boss Paul Jewell appears set to recall midfielder Lee Martin as the Blues look to lay to rest the ghost of August’s 7-1 defeat at London Road when Peterborough visit Portman Road on Saturday. The 25-year-old, sent off in that thrashing, was rested for last week’s game at Hull due to tiredness and concerns about the heavy surface at the KC Stadium.

Town have been linked with a renewed move for Portsmouth central defender Jason Pearce, one of the three Pompey players targeted in January. A return for Pearce, 24, would come as little surprise with chief executive Simon Clegg recently telling TWTD that the Blues’ attempt to sign some or all of the trio was still a "live issue".

Grant Leadbitter netted two goals in four second half minutes as the Blues came from behind to draw 2-2 at Hull City. The former skipper converted a penalty and then hammered home from the edge of the box after Robbie Brady and Robert Koren had looked to have won the game for the home side.

Assistant boss Chris Hutchings has challenged Town’s younger players to keep showing they’re worth their shirts when the Blues take on Hull City at the KC Stadium on Saturday. The likes of Tommy Smith, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Andy Drury, older but inexperienced in the Championship, have been keeping senior players such as Ibrahima Sonko, Lee Bowyer and, prior to his suspension, Jimmy Bullard on the bench.

Jason Scotland’s late deflected goal secured the Blues a deserved 1-1 draw at Southampton. The Saints went ahead in the 74th minute via top scorer Rickie Lambert but Scotland’s goal five minutes from the end claimed the point for Town.
